A leading innovator in the design, manufacture and on-going support of high performance, on-site gas generators for the life sciences sector.
Application
Prior to engaging with Macfarlane Packaging, the company was using solid timber crates to ship their industry leading range of compressor-based, nitrogen generators. Freight and productivity costs were high, packs were taking up too much space, and overall customer experience did not reflect the value of the brand.
Solution
3D modelling software, SolidWorks, was used to design a new pack. A selection of lightweight high-performing packaging materials was selected, including a high performance heavy-duty corrugated board and lightweight polyethylene foam designed to reduce impact shock for the product.
The pack was fitted with a ramp, creating ease of packing and product removal for the customer. Location sections were built into the internal foam fittings to prevent the ramp from falling out of its position during transit. A wrap-around style outer case with easy-to-use plastic closure locks was used contributing to the improvement in the packing and un-packing process.
